  3. ScanWizard version 2.20 Beta 4 for Windows 95 and Windows NT version 3.5.1 is now open to users of the 
  4. following ScanMaker-series scanners: II / IIXE, IISP / IISPX, IIHR, III, E3, and E6. With this beta version 
  5. for full 32-bit mode operation in Windows 95 and Windows NT, you can provide us with the valuable feedback 
  6. that we need in order to ensure quality customer satisfaction.

  24.     Installation Instructions for ScanWizard 2.20
  25.     March 7, 1996

  27.     After downloading SW220B4.EXE (a combined file), run it from an empty temporary directory on your hard 
  28.     drive. This will create or extract the following files and programs:

  40. These instructions assume the following facts:
  41.  
  42. 1.     That you have a stable copy of Windows 95 or Windows NT 3.5.1x, currently installed on your computer. 
  43.       For reference, these instructions are written with Windows 95 commands and menus in mind.
  44. 2.    That you have a basic understanding of DOS and how to: Copy, Change Directories, Run programs in a 
  45.       DOS Shell. 
  46. 3.    That you have deleted the following directories and/or file: 
  47.       MSCANDC.INI (a file) in the C:\WINDOWS     a directory.
  48.     
  49. How to Create a set of ScanWizard 2.20 BETA 4 Installation disks:
  50.  
  51.     After downloading SW220B4.EXE, you will need to create a set of installable ScanWizard disks. ScanWizard 
  52.     must be installed from floppy disks; the software cannot be installed from the hard drive. What follows are 
  53.     instructions on how to create the installable ScanWizard Beta version 2.20 floppy disks.
  54.  
  55. 1.    Format three (3) High Density (HD) 3-1/2" diskettes. To these disks, you will be extracting the 
  56.       SW_DSK1.EXE, SW_DSK2.EXE, and DRIVERS.EXE files. From these disks, you will then install the 
  57.       32-bit version of the ScanWizard Twain software, which is compatible with Windows 95.
  58.  
  59. 2.    Restart in DOS Mode or exit to a DOS Shell (MS-DOS Prompt). 
  60.  
  61. 3.    Go to the directory where you downloaded and extracted the SW220B4.EXE file.
  62.  
  63. 4.    Insert your first disk, labeled SCANWIZARD 2.20/Beta 4 DISK 1, into  disk drive A: (assuming that drive 
  64.       A: is a 3-1/2" floppy drive). Then type the following command:
  65.  
  66.     SWD1B4.EXE   -d   A:\        (hit the "Enter" key)
  67.  
  68. 5.    Insert your second disk, labeled SCANWIZARD 2.20/Beta 4 DISK 2, into disk drive A: (assuming that 
  69.       drive A: is a 3-1/2" floppy drive). Then type the following command:
  70.  
  71.     SWD2B4.EXE   -d   A:\        (hit the "Enter" key)
  72.  
  73. 6.    Insert your second disk, labeled SCANWIZARD 2.10/Beta 4  DISK 3, into disk drive A: (again assuming 
  74.       that drive A: is a 3-1/2" floppy drive). Then type the following command:

  76.     SWD3B4.EXE   -d   A:\        (hit the "Enter" key)
  77.  
  78.  
  79. 7.    Insert your third disk, labeled INTERFACE CARD DRIVERS for Windows 95, into disk drive A: (again 
  80.       assuming that drive A: is a 3-1/2" floppy drive). Then type the following command:
  81.  
  82.     DRIVERS.EXE   -d   A:\        (hit the "Enter" key)
  83.

  85. Installation under Windows 95, or Windows NT vs. 3.5.1:
  86.  
  87. 1.    Insert the disk labeled  SCANWIZARD 2.20 DISK 1 into drive A:
  88. 2.    "Click on" the START button from the TaskBar, then "click on" Run. A box will open asking which 
  89.       file/program to run. Type into the box  A:\SETUP.EXE, then "click on" OK.
  90. 3.    If you run into any problems during installation (e.g.: "DSHELL error"), restart in Safe Mode, and 
  91.       reinstall the ScanWizard software.
  92. 4.    During installation, you will be asked which interface card you have installed. Choose the AHA-1502e 
  93.       (ASPI) card if you have ANY Adaptec SCSI control card(s), which include the following:
  94.  
  95.       AHA-3940,    (W)    PCI Bus, Twin SCSI Channels
  96.       AHA-2940,     (W,U,UW)    PCI Bus
  97.       AHA-2840        VL Bus
  98.       AHA-2740,     (T,AT,W)    EISA Bus, Twin SCSI Channels
  99.       AHA-1740     (with recent BIOS, dated 1993 or later *)    EISA Bus, Single Channel
  100.       AHA-1640     (with recent BIOS, dated 1993 or later *)    Micro-Channel Bus
  101.     AHA-154x,     (C,CF,CK,CP)    ISA Bus, Bus Mastering
  102.     AHA-1542B,1522     (with recent BIOS, dated 1993 or later *)    ISA Bus
  103.     AHA-1510.1515        ISA Bus
  104.     AVA-1502E     (The card supplied by Microtek)    ISA Bus
  105.  
  106.     * Note:  Original or early Adaptec SCSI cards with BIOS dated 1990 will NOT work correctly 
  107.                with Microtek scanners.
  108.  
  109. 4.    If you have any "non-standard" Adaptec SCSI interface adapter (e.g., Parallel to SCSI, or PCMCIA SCSI, 
  110.     etc.),  please follow the instructions provided with your SCSI adapter and then install ScanWizard for ASPI 
  111.     (AHA-1502E).
  112. 5.    If you have a previous version of a Microtek SCSI controller card (e.g., MS-PNR, MS-PCZ2, MS-PCZ), 
  113.     choose the appropriate card installed in your system.
  114. 6.    If you are unsure of which interface card you have, shut down and turn off your computer, open the case 
  115.     and check to see which card you have (cards are labeled).
  116. 7.    During installation, ScanWizard Setup will prompt you for the additional ScanWizard disks (i.e., 
  117.     ScanWizard 2.20 Disk 2).

  119. How to Install the Interface Card Driver for Windows 95:
  120.  
  121. 1.     "Click on" the Start button.
  122. 2.    Insert the disk labeled Interface Card Drivers into your  A: drive. 
  123. 3.    Go to the Setting menu, choose Control Panel, and open it. 
  124. 4.    Choose Add New Hardware, "double-click" on it, choose Next, change Automatic detection to NO, 
  125.     choose Next, scroll through the list of devices,  and "double-click" on SCSI Controllers.
  126. 5.    You will now have a list of Adaptec SCSI controllers. Click on Have Disk. Windows will go to your 
  127.     ScanWizard Drivers disk on your "A" drive and read the INF file.  A list of controllers will then show up 
  128.     on your screen. 
  129. 6.    Depending on the interface card you have,  choose: AVA-1502E, MS-PNR (PCZ-2), or MS-PCZ card.
  130. 7.    Select the proper address port or address range, depending on how your card is set up.  The  default values 
  131.     for the original Microtek SCSI cards are:
  132.  
  133.     AHA-1502E Adaptec        Interrupt 10,     Input/Output range 0140-015F
  134.     MS-PNR (MS-PCZ2)                    Input/Output range 0280-029F
  135.     MS-PCZ                        Memory Address D400-D7FF

  137.     Note: You may have to change these settings in Windows 95 to match the settings of your interface card.

  139. 8.    Again, take the default and choose Next when given the opportunity, and then finally Finish.  When 
  140.     Windows prompts you to reboot, do so.
  141.  
  142.     After these steps, please print and follow the Install Windows 95 instruction document (file name: 
  143.     WIN95.RTF). You can use any Word Processor that can read RTF (Rich Text Format) files or 
  144.     Microsoft WordPad (included with Windows 95) to open and view the file.
